Molting is the natural process where birds shed old feathers and grow new ones.
During this period, egg production usually drops or stops completely as the bird’s energy is directed toward feather growth. Molting can happen once or twice a year, often triggered by changes in daylight, stress, or age.
In poultry farming, some farmers manage molting through feed and lighting adjustments to help hens return to production faster. While it is a normal cycle, poor management during molting can lead to weak birds or extended downtime in egg production.
