Pullets

Pullets are young female chickens that have not yet started laying eggs.

Pullets are usually between 12 and 20 weeks old. Farmers raise them carefully during this stage because their growth and health determine future egg production. Good feeding, vaccination, and housing prepare pullets to become productive layers.

Once they reach maturity, usually around 18 to 22 weeks, they enter their first laying cycle. In Kenyan markets, pullets are often sold at a higher price than chicks since they are closer to laying.
